Tonight I baked American chocolate chip cookies, using UK ingredients and a mystifyingly complicated UK oven, for my French friend who's leaving Cambridge on Monday, with my Chinese housemate as taste-tester. And then I watched a movie about Johnny Cash that was on the BBC.
